BRICS+ Deans forum

The BRICS+ Deans Forum is a strategic platform for academic and scientific cooperation among the leading universities of the BRICS+ member countries (Brasil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates).

In 2025, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro /UFRJ) will host the second edition of the event in partnership with the National Association of Directors of Federal Higher Education Institutions (Associação Nacional dos Dirigentes das Instituições Federais de Ensino Superior/ANDIFES) and the Forum of Deans of Public Higher Education Institutions in the State of Rio de Janeiro (Fórum de Reitores das Instituições Públicas de Ensino do Estado do Rio de Janeiro/FRIPERJ), and the support from the Federal Government and the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro. The initiative aims to strengthen ties among higher education institutions in participating countries and to establish Rio de Janeiro as an international hub for knowledge, science, and innovation.

The inaugural edition of the BRICS+ Deans Forum was held in 2024 at Lomonosov Moscow State University, under the leadership of Academician and Magnificent Rector Professor Dr. Victor Sadovnichy. The event marked a pioneering initiative by bringing together university leaders from Russia, Belarus, and Brasil, later expanding to other BRICS+ countries.

The second edition, organized by Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro /UFRJ), under the leadership of Magnificent Dean Professor Dr. Roberto de Andrade Medronho, is scheduled to take place on June 5, 6 and 7, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro. The main venue will be the Museu do Amanhã, an iconic symbol of innovation and sustainability. The event was officially announced at the Kremlin during the celebrations of the 270th anniversary of Lomonosov Moscow State University by the initiative's founder, Dean Victor Sadovnichy.

The forum is expected to bring together over 300 participants, including university deans and their representatives, government officials, and representatives of the scientific community from BRICS+ member and partner countries.
