BRICS Trade Union Forum

The BRICS Trade Union Forum promotes cooperation and dialogue among trade union confederations from member and partner countries, aiming at strengthening labor rights and bringing workers closer to the BRICS agenda.

Since its inception, BRICS has served as a key platform for discussions on social justice and democracy. The Trade Union Forum reflects this commitment by bringing together workers' representatives to discuss transformations in the world of work and the reform of global governance.

Priorities

The Brazilian trade union movement will emphasize discussions on the following topics:

  • Just Transition: How the working class can influence the economic and social transformation process to transition from unsustainable practices to systems that respect environmental boundaries, human rights, and animal welfare. The taxation of large corporations will be widely debated in this context, along with the role of trade union unity in fostering industrialization and innovation.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Its impact on employability, new labor market dynamics, and the regulation of of app-based platform work.
  • Effectiveness of Multilateralism: The need for a more inclusive and equitable multilateralism will be discussed by participating organizations.
  • Social Justice, Peace, and Democracy: The ethical commitment of states to social justice will be reinforced, ensuring that citizens have increasing access to education, healthcare, and decent work within the framework of the ILO and its standards.
