BRICS Solutions Awards: Applications open for award recognizing initiatives that promote sustainable development
Innovative technologies that promote sustainability and address climate change challenges can be submitted by May 16.

The BRICS Business Council (BBC), under Brasil’s leadership this year, has opened the application process for the BRICS Solutions Awards to recognize advanced technologies from Brasil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Sponsored by Brasil’s National Confederation of Industry (Confederação Nacional da Indústria /CNI), the award aims to highlight initiatives that bolster sustainable development and address global issues, with a focus on climate change. Submissions are free of charge.
Participants Profile
The Award is open to submissions from businesses, researchers, startups, governmental institutions, and universities. The selected projects will be celebrated in July, in Rio de Janeiro, during the BRICS Business Forum, which coincides with the Heads of State Summit.
Structure and Categories
The competition is divided into two phases:
Regional Phase: Local experts from each of the BRICS countries will evaluate the proposals to select the most promising ones for the final phase.
Final Phase: A committee of Brazilian experts will evaluate the finalist projects and determine the winners.
Projects can be submitted in the following categories:
1. Bioeconomy
2. Energy Transition
3. Digital transformation for sustainability
4. Circular economy
5. Food security and sustainable production
6. Innovative financing for sustainability
Important Dates
Submissions: from April 7 to May 16
Regional Evaluation: May 21
Final Evaluation: June 9
Award ceremony: July 5, during the BRICS Business Forum
Applications
Projects must be submitted in English through the official form available at https://www.bbcbrasil.org/brics-solutions-awards. The evaluation will be based on criteria such as originality, efficacy, competitive advantages, expert validation, and replication potential.
This initiative aims to strengthen collaborations among BRICS members and incentivize them to develop solutions that can be implemented globally, promoting a more sustainable and innovative world.
