Accounting for 26% of global goods trade, BRICS countries have an export flow of USD 5.7 trillion. This and other information on the bloc’s foreign trade can be found on the BRICS special web page launched by Brasil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (Ministério do Desenvolvimento, Indústria, Comércio e Serviços /MDIC).

Elaborated by MDIC’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secretaria de Comércio Exterior /SECEX), the online page consolidates data from Brasil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with the newly admitted members: Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The available information highlights the member countries' role in global trade, the evolution of goods and services exchanges within BRICS in recent years, and the bloc’s key trading partners and products. The tool aims to enhance transparency and facilitate access to essential information for governments, businesses, and researchers interested in BRICS' economic impact on the global landscape.

“We launched this tool to make trade information more accessible and understandable for all publics and to show the importance of the BRICS countries to world trade. Commitment to transparency moves us towards guiding technical teams to promote the ongoing evolution of data publicization instruments. President Lula made it a priority to invest in tools that perfect publicization and contribute to foreign trade,” stated Vice President and MDIC Minister Geraldo Alckmin, recalling that the BRICS is responsible for 39% of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 49% of the planet’s population.

The tool developed by SECEX features interactive panels, historical trends, comparisons, and detailed information on the types of products and services exchanged. "The data reveal that BRICS members play a significant role in international trade. In addition to being major exporters and importers, they are also frequent destinations for each other’s exports, reflecting their economic ties," said Foreign Trade Secretary Tatiana Prazeres, emphasizing the growing participation of the group’s countries in global trade over the past two decades.

The sections also show that the products exchanged among bloc members include metallic ores, petroleum, oil seeds and fruits, meat, iron, and steel. In terms of services, trade highlights include business services, transportation, telecommunications, IT, information services, and travel, among others.
