Under the BRICS Presidency this year, Brasil is organizing a calendar that goes beyond the more than one hundred meetings until the Leaders Summit in July. Among the various agendas is the VII BRICS Youth Energy Summit, which this year will be held in Brasilia, Federal District, on June 9 and 10. The event will gather youth who act in policy making and energy professionals from all country members of the group
For safety and management issues, the number of participants is limited. Registration is open until April 15 through an electronic form available on the BRICS Youth Energy Agency, which can be accessed here. Partial scholarships are available for delegates nominated by BRICS countries, according to the established criteria.
"Under Brasil's leadership in sustainable energy and its commitment to the youth, this important landmark inspires the young people from BRICS and their peers from the Global South to find common solutions for global challenges".
The works will be centered on four main areas, in line with the energy agenda proposed by the Brazilian BRICS Presidency:
- Sustainable fuels for energy transitions;
- Financing energy transitions and minerais for clean energy transition;
- Access to energy in addressing energy poverty through accessible solutions;
- Technological advancements for low-carbon energy systems.
Participants will meet with Brazilian policy makers and energy leaders, participate in working sessions of the thematic tracks, discuss recommendations for the BRICS Youth Energy Outlook 2025, and visit an energy company for a technical tour. Before the Summit, delegates will be invited to participate in online thematic workshops organized by Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (Ministério de Minas e Energia /MME) and learn more about the national priorities in the field of energy development.
"Having the BRICS Youth Energy Summit is of utmost importance, as it will debate the great challenges related to the transformation of global energy matrices and the advancement of renewable energy production. With the goal of building a more sustainable future for the planet, this event acquires even more relevance as it gathers countries with economic abundance and demonstrates the group's populational representativeness," stated Ronald Sorriso, Brasil's National Youth Secretary.
“We are proud to be celebrating, during the VII BRICS Youth Energy Summit in Brasilia, ten years of youth energy cooperation at BRICS as a group of eleven countries with different energy matrices, but with a shared an united vision for a fair, sustainable, and accessible energy future that belongs to the youth. Under Brasil's leadership in sustainable energy and its commitment to the youth, this important landmark inspires the young people from BRICS and their peers from the Global South to find common solutions for global challenges,” added Alexander Kormishin, president of the BRICS Youth Energy Agency.
Hosted by Brasil's MME and National Youth Secretariat of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, the event is being organized in partnership with the BRICS Youth Energy Agency.
